Drive thru plans Portadown Northway

Fresh plans for a new drive-thru cafe at the Northway in Portadown have been lodged with ABC Council.

The site in question sits on “vacant lands” at the entrance to the Asda superstore.

No details of the intended tenant have been made known at this stage.

The new submission, in the name of JH Turkington Ltd, is a reserved matters application. It follows the granting of outline planning approval three years ago for a drive-thru cafe and three cafe/restaurant units, as well as parking.

The drive-thru is the first element of this which is now being progressed.

This new application now provides additional information and plans for a drive-thru cafe, sitting directly beside the Northway.

It would see the development of a new-build unit, stretching to close to 2,500 sq ft.

It would provide seating, with drawings indicating around 38 available seats inside and 12 outside the premises.

There would also be a total of 37 parking spaces, including disabled provision, together with toilet facilities too,

There would be a single drive-thru lane, merging into two at one juncture with separate ordering ‘speakers’, before rejoining and advancing to collection point. There would be external menu display boards available for those using the drive-thru element of the cafe.

Access to the site is designated on Joseph Street and can be gained from the Northway and Bridge Street.

This new application will now be advertised shortly with a decision expected in due course.
