A teenager has died after a road traffic collision in County Monaghan.
The 17-year-old had been driving in the Clontibret area when the tragedy happened during the early hours of today (Wednesday).
The single vehicle collision happened at Carrickaderry – just 3km from the Co Armagh border – at around 1.30am and the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
The young man has now been taken to the mortuary at Monaghan General Hospital and a post mortem is due to take place later.
Monaghan gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage as they try to piece together what happened.
