Police have charged a 33-year-old man with possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances.
It relates to a seizure made in Craigavon yesterday (Saturday).
Earlier it was reported that officers were on mobile patrol in Drumellan estate shortly after 8.30pm when attention was drawn to a man’s suspicious behaviour.
When he noticed the police vehicle, it was reported that he started to run off in the direction of the path between Drumellan Mews and Dicksons Wood.
Following on foot, officers managed to detain the man and he was allegedly found to be carrying a handgun and ammunition
He is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday).
As is usual procedure, the charge will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service
