Plans for new retail hardware shop in Banbridge

Plans have been submitted to bring a new retail hardware shop to Banbridge.

The application submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s planners is for the erection of a retail hardware shop and the retention of 38 containers associated with a storage unit hire business at 5c Scarva Road, Banbridge.

The proposal was submitted to planners by agent R J Thompson on Wednesday, November 18, on behalf of Robert Martin Fixings Ltd.

The application form shows the planned site is 0.235 hectares in size and is currently used as a storage yard for a hardware business.

At present 150m2 of the site is dedicated to sales, with 558m2 regarded as a storage area. Should the plans be approved and the new retail hardware shop be built, the sales area will more than double to 315m2.

There is no planned change to floorspace dedicated for storage and surface water from the site will be disposed of via a stone soakaway, with foul sewage being disposed of via the mains.

The application was validated on Monday, November 23. The neighbour consultation period is due to expire on Tuesday, December 22 with the standard consultation period set to expire the following day, Wednesday, December 23.

The application will be advertised until Friday, December 25.
