Lucky escape for drivers and passengers after cars go up in flames following three vehicle crash

'Whilst no injuries were initially reported, two older persons involved have been taken to hospital for a check-up'

Two cars were destroyed after they caught fire following a three vehicle collision near Banbridge this afternoon (Sunday).

The collision happened at the junction of the Grovehill Road and Ballinaskeagh Road.

Police received a report of the incident shortly before 3pm today.

According to the PSNI, all those in the vehicles managed to get out of the cars.

A short time later two of the cars ignited and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were tasked to the scene.

A PSNI spokesperson told Armagh I : “Whilst no injuries were initially reported, two older persons involved have been taken to hospital for a check-up.

“The road is still closed at present.”
