Funeral details have been announced for a mother-of-two who passed away suddenly while on holiday in New York.

Sarah Reid (nee Macauley) – who was originally from the Banbridge area but was living in Killyman – had been on holiday in New York as part of her 30th birthday celebrations with her husband Darren when she fell seriously unwell.

Sarah had initially been admitted to hospital and a fundraiser had been established locally to help cover the cost of travel and medical expenses.

The GoFundMe page, launched by Gary Black, raised over £57,000 in just a few short days, and following Sarah’s passing on Monday, February 10 has risen to over £72,000.

Her death sent shockwaves throughout the community who have paid tribute to a woman described as “beautiful in every way”.

Sharing the news of Sarah’s passing one person said: “So sorry my loyal faithful Facebook friends who all have visited this page and prayed, commented, sent love to Sarah.

“Beautiful, kind, loving Sarah has received God’s final call last night. Such difficult news to give you all.

“The Lord be with her Husband Darren two beautiful wee sons, brother, Sarah’s parents, precious cousins, Darren’s parents and family circles.”

Another added: “So sad to hear of Sarah ‘s passing, she would never have passed you by without a hello and a big smile. Thoughts and prayers are with her husband, kids and family.”

A death notice described Sarah as the dearly loved wife of Darren and devoted mother of Alexander and Harry, cherished daughter of William and Madeleine and dearest sister of Irvine and daughter-in-law of Harold and Olive, sister-in-law Judith and Charline (Eglish, Dungannon).

Her funeral is due to take place on Wednesday February 19 at 11am, from the Macauley family home, 20 Seafin Lane, Ballyroney, Banbridge BT32 5ET – where everyone will be made welcome.

A service will follow in Derrygortreavy Parish Church, arriving approx. 2.30pm, with burial afterwards in adjoining churchyard.
