An arson attack on a flat in Portadown has jeopardised “much-needed” social housing in the area.
The incident happened around 10am on Sunday in the Garvaghy Park area of the town.
Fire crews attended the blaze but there was considerable damage caused to the property.
Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Duffy whole-heartedly condemned the wanton act.
“NI Housing Executive had allocated the property to a new tenant in housing crisis who must now remain on the housing list because of this incident,” explained Mr Duffy.
He added: “Such random acts of arson put into jeopardy much needed social housing. There will now be the added cost of repairing the property to make it habitable again
“I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI.”
