A Co Armagh man accused of raping a woman in a portable toilet on the Isle of Man has been granted bail.

Robert John (RJ) Woolsey, with an address of Aghory Road, outside Richhill, had been remanded into custody following his first appearance in the Douglas court earlier this month.

The 44-year-old, who was on the island for the Isle of Man TT event on Friday, May 26, has been charged with one count of rape and two counts of indecent assault.

According to Isle of Man Today, Woolsey was granted bail this week on the condition that he reside in an address in Douglas – not to return to Northern Ireland – and abide a curfew between 7pm and 7am and to report to Douglas police headquarters daily between 9am and 10am.

He was also asked to surrender his passport before the application was granted.

Bail was also granted after securities totalling £42,000 from the defendant’s sister (£30,000) and a friend (£12,000) were lodged with the court.

Woolsey is due back in court on July 25.
