Do you know someone inspirational who should be nominated for Armagh I’s Educator of the Year

Inspirational teachers can turn a life around and it is for this reason that Armagh I have included an Inspirational Educator section in this year’s awards.

The award, which is being sponsored by Sally McNally’s at the Corner, is designed to shine a spotlight on those teachers, from any discipline, who inspire, encourage, inform and motivate.

Owner of Sally’s, Matthew Bird, said they were delighted to be sponsoring the award.

He said: “Sally’s have always been heavily involved with our local community, from the sponsorship of sports teams, donations of restaurant vouchers to local school raffles to participation in charity events like our annual charity football match. We love to give back to those who support us.

“There are so many incredible people across County Armagh and those people deserve some recognition, especially over the last year or two with the pandemic and its upheaval.

“Teachers were amongst some of those who had to quickly adapt and rethink their way of working and it hasn’t been easy for them. This is our way of saying thank you for their perseverance, ingenuity and dedication.”

To nominate someone for the Inspirational Educator of the Year:

(a) describe how this person is truly exceptional in their teaching and how their leadership or mentoring has inspired and captured the imagination of their students (of any discipline)

(b) explain how they assist in developing the skills and enthusiasm students need to make a positive difference in the world

(c) include evidence of success and achievement in their field of expertise

You can nominate up until December 10 using this simple link here.

Please note that only the information you submit can be considered when shortlisting. Vague nominations may not be shortlisted. To give your nomination the best chance, please include as much detail as possible about their work.

The shortlisting panel will not be able to consider information already in the public domain or prior knowledge of the individual.

Finalists will be announced on January 10 and public voting for those finalists opens on January 14 and closes on February 11.

The winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony in Armagh Observatory and Planetarium on March 10.

Good luck to everyone!
