
It’s time to nominate your hero!
The Armagh I People of the Year Awards are back for the fifth consecutive year – and we’re excited to be doing things a little differently!

We will be surprising each worthy winner in person and sharing these videos with you!
And we’re delighted to be partnering with Armagh Credit Union this year as our People of the Year Awards’ main sponsor.

“Within the last year, Armagh Credit Union have helped local charities, clubs, schools and societies to the value of circa £70,000. We feel our values align with the award categories and look forward to meeting the worthy winners.

As always, we are asking you to nominate your local heroes – those who you believe are worthy recipients for all the incredible work they do.
We are delighted to launch this year’s categories and open up nominations!
Here are the eight categories to choose from:
Inspirational Young Person
Entrants must be under 25.
(a) briefly describe how the nominee is inspirational
(b) how do they stand out from their peers
(c) summarise their strengths and special qualities
(d) show how they have made a valuable and recognisable contribution
Carer of the Year
(any person in a paid or non-paid role)
(a) show the nominee’s commitment and perseverance in helping provide much needed care
(b) what positive effect have they made to the lives of those in their care
(c) describe what makes their care special and how their dedication makes them stand out
Rescue Champion of the Year
Nominees for this award can be anyone/group who has helped rescue someone or some thing. They can be an heroic member of the public or an individual/group who has undertaken a rescue, or do so on a regular basis. Examples include: fire, ambulance, police, coastguard, health professionals, animal welfare or a member of the public who has taken on a rescue mission.
(a) outline the rescue job they do or the rescue mission embarked upon
Community Impact Award
Recognises individuals making a significant difference to community life. For example, a particular project or cause that has changed the community for the better by improving relations and promoting a shared society.
(a) outline the project
(b) demonstrate how without this project the community would be worse off
(c) demonstrate a commitment towards improving community relations and a more united and shared society
Inspirational Educator
(a) describe how this person is truly exceptional in their teaching and how their leadership or mentoring has inspired and captured the imagination of their students (of any discipline)
(b) how do they assist in developing the skills and enthusiasm students need to make a positive difference in the world?
(c) include evidence of success and achievement in their field of expertise
Overcoming Adversity to Succeed
You are asked to nominate a person who fulfils all of the criteria below:
(a) a member of the public, any age, who has shown courage in the face of adversity, such as dealing with an unexpected, difficult or unpleasant situation or finding themselves in unprecedented challenging circumstances
(b) describe how they showed true grit and strength of character to succeed at a given task, job, role or endeavour
(c) how has this person been the embodiment of ‘the good Samaritan’ or shown dedication and a true zest for life despite themselves suffering personal trauma?
Champion of the Arts
(a) Recognises an individual or organisation that has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the promotion, support, and advancement of the arts within their community or industry.
(b) Actively promotes the value and importance of the arts in society. Serves as a voice or leader in arts-related initiatives or policies.
(c) Provides significant support (financial, mentorship, volunteering, or other resources) to artists or arts organisations.
Special Recognition-Lifetime Achievement
This award recognises an individual or team who has/have made an exceptional contribution within the local community over the years
(a) give an outline of the recipient’s career
(b) show how they have stood out from their peers
(c) illustrate their achievements to date and how they were outstanding in their field
