A large-scale industrial development looks set to be built in the Craigavon area.

The proposed development will be built on the Charlestown Road area, north of the Carn Industrial Estate.

Ulster Unionist Councillor Doug Beattie MC said any investment in the Craigavon area “is both welcome and very much needed”.

He added: “The land, which is adjacent to Carbet Road, will be an industrial development to include the creation of five industrial plots and associated road infrastructure, site access and site works.

“These five industrial plots will be used for individual start ups and light business bringing with it an opportunity for investment, development as well as employment. It proves Craigavon is a much sort after area for inward investment with good business opportunities and an exceptional skilled and semi-skilled workforce.

“The ground has already been cleared of trees ready for the next phase of the development process which will see a planning application sometime in May.

“However this must first be preceded by a public consultation period were the local community will be able to ascertain the facts about the development, its impact on the local area and how it can benefit the wider community.”

This public consultation is set for 27th April between 3:30pm and 8:00pm in Portadown Town Hall.

Cllr. Beattie concluded: “I would urge all interested parties to take the opportunity to inform themselves about the proposed development and its benefits.”
