Enterprise Week goes virtual for 2020

Enterprise Week

Businesses in the borough are invited to sign up for a series of webinars hosted online from November 16-20 which offer opportunities for local companies and entrepreneurs to face the challenging economic climate with confidence and new skills.

Organised by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and sponsored by Fibrus Broadband, Enterprise Week will take a different format to previous years, due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, and will instead deliver daily inspirational virtual events.

Participants will hear about first-hand experiences from industry-respected guests and motivational speakers, providing a wealth of opportunities to gain new insights, acquire new skills and engage in knowledge-sharing throughout the week.

Aimed at the whole business sector from budding entrepreneurs to well-established firms, the online webinars will focus on resilience, vision and wellbeing as well as the importance of digital platforms to sell, promote and engage with consumers.

The week-long initiative will also see a selection of local businesses share their business stories, highlights from their entrepreneurial journey and also provide businesses and social enterprises access to advisors and current support programmes.

All the events can be viewed online allowing people to watch whether they are in the office, factory or working remotely at home.

Speaking at the launch of Enterprise Week 2020, Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Kevin Savage, commented: “We appreciate it has been a difficult year for businesses and so we want to help by providing free online events offering guidance, motivation and support to businesses in the Borough.

“Enterprise Week has become an important initiative in our events calendar and so, even in a pandemic, we are pleased to be able to run it online and host a range of guests to speak during this unique moment. Each event and speaker has been carefully chosen to bring advice in key areas and to encourage morale at a time when businesses need it most.

“I would encourage those in the business community to sign up and join us at this year’s Enterprise Week. Whether you are working from home or in the office, we hope people will be able to join us online to learn and be inspired.”

Coinciding with Global Entrepreneurship Week – which is now in its 13th year – Enterprise Week recognises and commends the innovators and job creators who launch start-ups, which bring new ideas to life.

Enterprise Week is delivered by local enterprise agencies CIDO Ltd, Banbridge District Enterprise Ltd, Mayfair Business Centre, Armagh Business Centre and Brownlow Ltd who are always on hand to offer advice and guidance on programmes to help turn business ideas into reality.

Principal sponsor Fibrus Broadband’s CEO Dominic Kearns commented: “Fibrus Hyperfast Broadband is delighted to support Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s Enterprise Week 2020. In a year that has seen a dramatic increase in people working from home and home-schooling, the need for fast, reliable broadband has never been so important to local businesses and communities. Enterprise Week provides us with an opportunity to engage with members of the local business community and to highlight our business packages that bring fibre right to their premises.”
