Plans to open a new drive-thru Tim Horton’s in Banbridge have been withdrawn.
The world-famous coffee and donuts chain had been earmarked to open a ‘pod’ in front of the Home Bargains store at the Bridgewater Retail Park.
Armagh I first revealed the proposals back in May 2022.
And it was later revealed that it would be part of a major redevelopment at the retail park.
For in October last year, it was confirmed that proposals were in the pipeline for four new shops, selling a “range of convenience and bulky comparison goods”, as well as a garden centre and no less than three drive-thru developments, one of which was the earlier revealed Tim Horton’s.
The proposal had come in the name of Gortalowry Developments in an area of car parking.
According to the application form, the ‘pod’ would have seen new jobs, with an estimated 10 staff on site daily.
The application had been under consideration by ABC Council planning officials.
But now, according to the NI Planning Portal, its status is being shown as “withdrawn”.
The area has previously seen the opening of a new drive-thru at the Go filling station, while approval has been given too for a new Starbucks.
It is not known at this stage if a fresh application for a Tim Horton’s unit at the Bridgewater Retail Park will emerge or if the franchise has decided to drop Banbridge from its wish list.
