A Markethill man has been sentenced to five months in prison for three assaults on police along with offences of criminal damage and breaching a non-molestation order.
Court heard that the 30-year-old had already served two and a half months in custody, the equivalent of a five-month sentence.
Sean Anthony Taylor, of Bunker Hill, pleaded guilty to threats to kill, improper use of communications to cause anxiety, three counts of assault on police, breach of a non-molestation order, disorderly behaviour and criminal damage at Armagh Magistrates’ on Tuesday.
It was heard these offences were accrued on two separate occasions; on February 10 and April 29.
Defence barrister Bobbie Rea stated: “He has spent two and a half months in custody real-time, that is the equivalent of a five-month sentence already.
“I am asking that your worship looks at this in a global way with regards to sentencing.”
Deputy District Judge Trevor Browne said: “These matters are serious, particularly the assault on police, but I am mindful he has spent time in custody and of how he has met this matter.”
Taylor was sentenced to five months in prison for these offences.
Judge Browne stated: “He has an appalling record but I am giving him credit for his time served.”
