Green Gyms: ABC Council piloting community garden project

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is piloting a community garden project in partnership with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) and their award winning ‘Green Gym’ approach.

Green Gyms are fun and free outdoor sessions where you will be guided in practical activities such as planting trees, building raised beds and creating paths – but with an emphasis on the health and fitness aspect of these activities.

This project is a fantastic combination where you can learn new skills and create something meaningful for the community, while also enjoying a natural workout in the outdoors.

The project aims to increase physical activity, promote mental wellbeing, increase social inclusion, support healthier lifestyle choices, and improve the local environment.

The Green Gym Programme will take place at Edenvilla Park, Portadown and will last for approximately 6 months. Participants will learn about gardening horticulture, sustainability and take part in community leadership training.

This project is open to anyone over the age of 18 years. Spaces are limited. Register below.

This project is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
