Journey through the cosmos with dome shows at Armagh Observatory & Planetarium

For centuries, Armagh has been a beacon of astronomical discovery, and today, the Armagh Observatory & Planetarium continues to captivate visitors with its awe-inspiring dome shows.

This spring, from February 20 to April 6 2025, audiences of all ages are invited to embark on an unforgettable voyage through space, experiencing the wonders of the universe like never before.

Housed within the planetarium’s state-of-the-art full-dome digital theatre, these immersive shows transport audiences across galaxies, exploring distant planets, the
mysteries of our night sky, and even the future of lunar exploration.

Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer or a young explorer taking your first steps into astronomy, there’s something for everyone.

A Show for Every Explorer

The planetarium is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm (last admission at 4:30pm).

The carefully curated programme offers daily dome screenings at 2:00pm of the Our Night Sky show which takes visitors on a journey of what they can see in the night sky.

At weekends and school holidays we extend our programme with dome screenings tailored to different age groups and interests. Families with young children can enjoy light-hearted, engaging journeys such as Our Wee Planets at 10:30am and Accidental Astronauts at 11:00am, designed to ignite curiosity and wonder.

For those eager to deepen their understanding of space, Our Solar System at 12:00pm provides an informative, visually spectacular tour of the planets, while our 1:00pm screening Moonbase: The Next Step examines humanity’s next giant leap – returning to the Moon and beyond.

At weekends we continue to screen at 2:00pm Our Night sky followed by We are Guardians at 3:00pm.

Music lovers will be thrilled by the 4:00pm Pink Floyd Experience, where the band’s iconic sounds are paired with dazzling visuals for an unforgettable audiovisual
journey every weekend.

More Than Just a Show

Every dome show ticket includes access to Armagh Observatory and Planetarium’s exhibition areas and the beautiful Astropark, offering a full day of discovery and exploration.

Visitors can stroll through the scale models of the solar system and examine meteorites billions of years old.

 

Those booking multiple shows can take advantage of a 20% discount, making it easier to dive deeper into space and astronomy. Gift vouchers are also available,
making this an ideal experience for science enthusiasts of all ages.

The planetarium is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm (last admission at 4:30pm).

Full show listings are available for Saturdays and Sundays, as well as non-term time Tuesdays to Fridays.

As always, accessibility is a priority, with select sessions available in relaxed format (lower volume, smaller audiences) and some shows featuring BSL/ISL interpretation.
