Performance Analysis Seminar this week

Former Armagh captain Steven McDonnell will be among the guest speakers at Performa Sport’s performance analysis seminar next week.

The All-Ireland winner will join former New Zealand Rugby Union High Performance Player Development Manager Paul MacKinnon and Perfoma Sport’s Danny Turley to speak about optimising sporting performance.

Performa Sports, a performance analysis application for the iPad, is used by Mayo GAA, Armagh GAA, and Derby County FC among others, and has recently been nominated for a prestigious Football Business award.

And Mr Turley, who spent seven years providing statistical and video analysis for Armagh GAA, believes taking such a detailed approach to sport can make all the difference.

“Over the last decade performance analysis has been a crucial component to the success of the great county teams of the past such as Armagh in 2002 and Tyrone in 2003, but the benefits have been out of reach for most clubs until now,” he said.

“At Performa Sports we have developed an easy-to-use real-time performance analysis tool designed for coaches from the grassroots of their club to gain that competitive edge for their team.

“Today, we see clubs such as Crossmaglen Rangers, Pearse Ogs and Eire Og in Armagh all using our product to improve their performances at different levels.

The seminar, which will be held in the Armagh City Hotel on Tuesday October 23, is targeted at players, coaches, and analysts looking to gain a competitive edge over their rivals and give themselves ‘more than a sporting chance’.
