Lisdrum FC’s Under-12 (2014) squad have etched their names into the club’s history after being crowned 2026 O’Neills Foyle Cup Champions, completing an unforgettable week of football with an outstanding display of talent, teamwork and determination.
The young Newry side lifted one of Ireland’s most prestigious youth football trophies after defeating Dungiven Celtic 4-1 in the final at Limavady FC Showgrounds, bringing the Foyle Cup trophy home to Lisdrum FC for the first time.
Under the guidance of coaches Michael Teggart, Shane Murphy and Paddy Rooney, the boys remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, producing football of the highest quality against some of the strongest youth teams from across Ireland and beyond.
Their tournament began with a flawless group stage campaign, winning all five matches without conceding a single goal and finishing top of their group with an incredible official record of 22 goals scored and none conceded.
Group stage victories included:
- Strabane Athletic – 5-0
- Dergview FC – 5-0
- Kilmore Rec – 4-0
- Culmore Colts FC – 5-0
- Eastend United – 3-0
They continued their remarkable form in the knockout stages with victories over:
- Lisbellaw United – 3-1
- Oxford Sunnyside Colts – 6-1
- Dungiven Celtic – 4-1 in the final.
Although the tournament website records winning margins of no more than five goals, the team actually scored significantly more goals than the official results reflect, making their attacking performances even more impressive.
Throughout the week the players demonstrated exceptional ability, resilience, discipline and sportsmanship, representing both Lisdrum FC and Newry with immense pride.

The success is the reward for months of dedication from players and coaches, together with the unwavering support of parents, families and volunteers who travelled throughout the week to cheer the team on.
As the final whistle sounded in Limavady, celebrations erupted among players, coaches and supporters who had shared every step of the journey. Winning the O’Neills Foyle Cup is an extraordinary achievement for any grassroots club, and this remarkable group of young footballers has created a piece of Lisdrum FC history that will be remembered for many years to come.
