There’s a bounty in them thar hills… well, on a Tandragee hill to be exact!
The site of Tandragee’s famous The Bounty chippy has become available to let after being left vacant for a period of five years.
In August 2021, the derelict building next door to the famed takeaway – on Market Street – partially collapsed resulting in police erecting an emergency cordon for health and safety.
A member of the public had noticed the precarious position of the building, alerted the emergency services and contractors were urgently called in to demolish the unstable property.
However, The Bounty was sadly left as a matter of collateral damage.
The business was forced to evacuate to mitigate the risks to staff and members of the public. Regrettably, it never reopened.
Now, almost five years on, the premises has been put onto the property market to let… offering a unique chance to acquire a turn-key commercial space with developmental opportunity.
Under the agency of Next Move property, the 1,258 sq ft space across two floors is described as having “real potential” for residential development or office space.
The café on the ground floor is fully equipped and is in “immaculate condition” with seating for 16 in the front restaurant.
To the rear of the property there is a secure courtyard and a derelict house that could also be developed for a variety of uses, says the agent.
Tandragee boasts both high footfall and through traffic along the main street, with routes leading to Armagh, Banbridge, Portadown and Newry.
Once occupied, the business would be a welcome boost for the town and follows on the back of several new developments in recent months.
In October 2025, permission was granted by ABC Council for the development of a new coffee shop in an historically significant building at the bottom of Market Street. It was formerly a well known hairdressers salon.
A month later plans for a new £3 million EuroSpar filling station were also green-lighted, bringing with it the creation of at least 10 jobs.
