A couple have been left badly shaken following an orchestrated attack in their home in Tandragee last night (Friday).
The occupants of the house, who wish to remain nameless, were restrained with cables while the house was raided by a gang of men and a sum of money was stolen.
MLA William Irwin branded those responsible as nothing more than ‘thugs’.
“It is only a few weeks since a previous similar style incident in Tandragee and now we have another family left shaken and in shock following what was a very frightening incident,” said Mr Irwin.
“I visited the family and spent some time with them on Friday morning and they are clearly in shock at this incident as anyone would be.
“One can only imagine what it would be like to have a gang of men enter your home in this sinister and threatening way, it was such an ordeal for them.”
He added: “In this incident the gang of men were very threatening and restrained the couple with cable before ransacking the house.
“Those behind these incidents appear to be very forensically aware and wear protective clothing obviously in a bid to minimise any incriminating forensic trail.
“I have spoken to police on this very concerning crime and it is imperative that police move quickly to try and apprehend the gang behind this latest incident.
“I would urge people to remain vigilant and if anyone witnessed any suspicious activity on the Portadown Road on Thursday evening they should contact the Police immediately and assist with their inquiries.
“Incidents such as this really strike fear into the community and there needs to be a swift response from the police to deal robustly with this type of crime.”
