Watch: Waves dramatic weather conditions force police to close Warrenpoint road

Police have been forced to close the main road out of Warrenpoint towards Rostrevor due to the high winds and subsequent flooding.

Storm Brendan is wreaking havoc across the country this afternoon but coastal areas around Warrenpoint are particularly badly hit.

The area of Seaview, Havelock Place and the Square in Warrenpoint are currently closed and impassable due to flooding, police have confirmed.

The Rostrevor Road from Warrenpoint is also closed.

“Until further notice it is advisable to avoid these areas; do not make any unnecessary journeys if at all possible,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

Dan Wilson posted this video on Twitter of the aforementioned road above.
