Hardy PS raises over £11,000 for Hospice as 450 excited pupils relish Reindeer Run!

Pupils of a Co Armagh primary school are celebrating a festive fundraising feat after fetching a fabulous £11,000 for the Southern Area Hospice Services.

Kind-hearted kids at Richhill’s Hardy Memorial Primary School couldn’t wait to get involved and went above and beyond in their enthusiastic efforts.

The youngsters were the first to take part in ‘The Reindeer Run’, the Hospice’s brand new fundraising initiative.

The run saw 450 pupils from the school donning reindeer antlers and participating in a sponsored run to help raise funds for Hospice care.

Mr Matthew Smyth, Charities Co-ordinator and teacher, said: “What a day we had hosting our Reindeer Run in aid of the Southern Area Hospice!

“To see 450 children running through the village decked out in antlers and Christmas jumpers was incredible.

“We even had lots of members of the community come out to support the children as we made our way back up to school along the Main Street.

“The boys and girls had a ball and to raise such a phenomenal amount as £11,000 was more than we ever could have dreamt of.

“The generosity of our families never ceases to amaze us. Thank-you so much to everyone for helping raise vital funds for such a worthy cause.”

A huge well done to all involved – an absolutely superb seasonal success!
