A former Iceland store in Portadown is to be turned into a soft play area.
And a small section of the property – at Meadow Lane – is to be retained for retail purposes.
The proposals, lodged by David McMaster, of Industrial Estate, Portadown, on behalf of D Harrison, Mullalelish Road, Richhill, have been given the go-ahead.
Planning officials have given the thumbs-up for the vacant unit, locted within a car park, to be sub-divided.
The change of use will allow foer the provision of an indoor children’s play area.
Officials, in their report to councillors, state: “The existing unit will be subdivided to create two separate areas, one for retail and one for a kids play area.
“Access will be via the existing door that opens onto the car park at Meadow Lane.
“Officers are of the opinion that this proposal fully complies with the Strategic Planning Policy Statement in this regard by retaining, enhancing and importantly delivering a modernised and competitive business.
“There are no residential properties adjacent to the site. It is considered the proposed development will not have an unacceptable impact on neighbour amenity.”
The Iceland store had closed some years back, with the retailer offering a trading presence within The Range store at the Meadows Shoping Centre, just a stone’s throw away.
