Police to return today to scene of traffic collision in which motorcyclist killed

Police want to talk to motorists in bid to gather new information

Police investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a motorcyclist in a road traffic collision two weeks ago will return to the scene on the Kilkeel Road in Ballymartin between 11.45am and 12.15pm in a bid to gather new information about the crash.

Sergeant Paul Connolly said the fatal RTC happened around noon on Sunday May 28.

He added: “We will be at the scene again today stopping and talking to motorists who might have been in the area at that time and who may have witnessed either the incident itself or something that could be significant to our investigation.

“We are also making a fresh appeal for drivers who have dashcams fitted in their cars or motorcyclists with helmet cameras, and who would have been on the main road between Ballymartin and Kilkeel around the time the collision occurred, to contact police.

“Anyone with information should call police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 622 of 28/5/17.”

No roads will be closed but delays should be expected in the area.
