Motorists advised to drive with care as temperatures fall below zero

Motorists are advised to drive with caution and leave extra time for their journey this morning as temperatures fall below freezing with increased risk of ice.

A yellow warning for snow and ice is in place until 12noon today with the MetOffice advising “some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths”

PSNI also state “Motorists are advised of sub-zero temperatures this morning and a risk of snow and ice on the roads.

An update from TrafficWatchNI stated: “Temperatures are currently sub zero and there is a risk of snow (mainly in the North West of the province) and ice on roads…

“Salting of roads on the scheduled network has been undertaken overnight.

“All main routes on the scheduled road network are open and passable with care.

The rest of today should see some bright or sunny periods and scattered snow or hail showers, most frequent and occasionally heavy in the north and west.
