Gosford and Loughgall Country Parks to close to facilitate events

Gosford Forest Park and Loughgall Country Park will be closed to members of the public to facilitate large-scale events later this year.

Gosford will close on June 7 and June 8 to facilitate Armagh County Agricultural Show.

The event has been running in Co. Armagh since 1829 and is now one of the largest shows outside Belfast, consisting of livestock and equestrian showing classes, trade and catering stands, games and activities and many more family attractions.

The annual event is held at Gosford Forest Park on the second Saturday of June each year.

Overall, the main aim of the agricultural show is to give exhibitors and their families the opportunity to show their prime livestock, horses, home industries, pets etc. to the general public and to participate in the various competitions.

The show also educates the public about the diverse range of agricultural activities that takes place within the industry and, in particular, to demonstrate these activities to young people.

Setting up for the show will take place from June 3 to June 6. This will be staggered throughout each day and will take place in areas to which members of the public will not have access.

Gosford Forest Park currently has around 5,000 pass holders. A communications plan will be put in place to inform members of the public and pass holders the forest park will be closed.

Armagh County Agricultural Show will be charged £1,285.60 to use Gosford Forest Park on June 7 – 8.

Meanwhile, Loughgall Country Park is to be closed to members of the public on July 5 from 1pm, and all day on July 6, to facilitate Loughgall Country Park Rally.

North Armagh Motorcycle and Car Club has been organising the annual event for over 20 years.

A communications plan will be put in place to inform all golf club, angling members and users of the facility the country park will be closed.

North Armagh Motorcycle and Car Club will be charged £700 to use Loughgall Country Park on July 6.
