A woman who died in a tragic road collision in Aghagallon on Friday has been named locally as 62‑year‑old Pauline Downing.
Mrs Downing, from the Kilmore area of Lurgan and formerly of Derrymore, passed away suddenly following the incident on the Lurgan Road.
Her funeral will take place tomorrow (Tuesday). Pauline will repose at her family home, 39 Leansmount Road, Lurgan, BT67 9LD, today (Monday) from 12 noon until 8pm. The family has requested that the house remain private, with family and close friends welcome during these times.
Funeral will be from the family home on Tuesday at 9.30am to St Patrick’s Church, Aghagallon, for Requiem Mass at 10am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
She is described in a family notice as the “beloved wife of Jerome, and a loving mother of Gerry and Shea”, a dearly loved sister of Martin, Brian, Brigid, Oliver and Damien, and a much‑loved sister‑in‑law to a wide circle of in‑laws, nieces, nephews and extended family.
“Pauline will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, sons, brothers, sister, all her nieces and nephews and extended family,” the notice adds. Family flowers only have been requested, with donations in lieu, if desired, to Parkinson’s UK via mcalindenandmurtagh.com or a donation box at the family home.
Aghagallon Walking Group paid tribute, saying: “Pauline Downing was a valued past member of our group. Many pleasant miles were walked together. You will be missed by all. R.I.P Pauline.”
Many others have also offered condolences to the Downing family following the tragedy.
Meanwhile, police have confirmed that a 34‑year‑old man has been charged in connection with the fatal road traffic collision.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit said the man faces a number of motoring offences, including causing death by careless driving.
He is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court today (Monday), October 26.
