A lovely lunch – complete with special guests – was the perfect way for Waringstown lady Tena Stoleworthy to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Ladies (and gents) who lunch is what it’s all about and a certain club does just that!

So Waringstown Presbyterian Church Luncheon Club this week were celebrating in style as they marked the milestone occasion of one of their most faithful and eldest members.

A beautiful lunch and party took place with Lord Mayor Margaret Tinsley and local MP Carla Lockhart coming along bearing gifts and best wishes.

Speaking after the party, the Upper Bann representative sai: “This really was a most wonderful occasion and a very fitting way to mark such an amazing milestone in Tena’s life.

“One hundred years is something to celebrate and it was lovely to hear Tena recounting many of her happy memories throughout her lifetime and for her to speak of the changes that have come about, some good and some not so good.

“It was also very humbling to hear of her faith and how God has sustained and helped her throughout her many years on this earth.

“I would commend Melvyn and Pamela Hamilton – who run the weekly luncheon club – for their efforts and their team of helpers.

“It truly was a wonderful occasion and one that I was very honoured to attend.

“I trust that this ministry amongst the elderly will continue for many years to come and that Tena and all those in attendance would continue to enjoy the fellowship and friendship.”
