Homes evacuated in south Armagh security operation

Seven homes on the Concession Road, Culloville evacuated as part of the south Armagh security operation.

This is the second day of the operation after the police and army bomb squad suspended the overnight work due to visibility.

Sinn Féin Councillor Terry Hearty has said that the ongoing security alert in the Culloville area has caused serious disruption to the local residents and Businessss, which had been further compounded by the length of time it was now taking to deal with the alert.

Speaking from the scene the local south Armagh Councillor said: “There has been serious disruption caused to local residents and Businesses and it is very obvious  that those who created this alert care little about the community. The situation has been further compounded by the length of time it is now taking to deal with the alert”.

Newry & Armagh Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon echoing her colleagues sentiments stated that those responsible  for the security alert which have nothing to offer the community.

“This has caused nothing but disruption, distress and frustration for people living in the area. This type of action has nothing to offer the community but hardship”
