Farm building vandalised

Sinn Fein Councillor Colman Burns has asked farmers to keep a frequent check on out farms as the darker evenings approach. He was speaking after visiting a building in Cloghoge, Crossmaglen that had suffered an act of vandalism recently.

Councillor Burns explained: “This was a disgraceful act of wanton destruction on a farmer’s property.

“The farm is located down a long lane in a remote area, off the East Cloghoge Road. On Friday 6th September, some person or persons made their way down the lane and proceeded to smash every window in the house. They then entered the building and smashed up the contents of the house.

“This is a very old house and is one of a dwindling number of such buildings that remain in our countryside. This particular house was protected from the elements and this had helped to keep it well preserved.  Unfortunately, it will take considerable financial outlay to repair the damage done by these vandals.”

The Councillor condemned those responsible for the damage and asked that farmers keep a look outfor  any suspicious activity throughout the winter.
