A fundraiser has been launched to help support the family of murdered Dungannon man, Sidi Djalo.
Sidi – an esteemed member of the Moy Park team – was tragically killed at his home in the Lisnahull Road area on August 29.
The 61-year-old had been resident in Northern Ireland for a period of around 20 years and had, in that time, built up a good relationship with his friends, colleagues and neighbours.
Paying tribute to him upon his passing, many regarded Sidi as a “lovely man” and a “gentleman to work with”.
He was found deceased in his home alongside his seriously injured eight-year-old daughter and his wife, who also had to be taken to hospital for her injuries.
Both are now grappling to come to terms with life without him.
A fundraising effort, started by Mariama Djaura, now seeks to raise £4,500 to help support Sidi’s wife and daughter in the weeks and months to come.
A description by Mariama reads: “Sidi was a beloved husband, father, family member and friend. His sudden passing has left an unimaginable emptiness in the lives of those who loved him, and his family are now facing an incredibly difficult time as they grieve their loss and prepare to lay their beloved husband and father to rest.
“We are asking our community, friends, family and anyone who knew Sidi or his family to come together and offer whatever support they can. Every donation, no matter how large or small, will make a meaningful difference and help ease some of the financial pressures the family may face during this heartbreaking period.”
It adds that Sidi’s family – who are requesting privacy as they navigate this difficult time – have expressed their “heartfelt appreciation for the kindness, compassion and support they have already received from the community”.
“Let us come together as a community to show Sidi’s family that they are not alone during this incredibly painful time,” continues Mariama. “Forever in our hearts.”
At the time of writing the campaign has already brought in more than £2,500.
A teenage boy – who cannot be identified due to his age – has appeared in court charged with the murder of Sidi and the attempted murders of his wife and child.
He is due to appear by video-link at Dungannon Youth Court on September 15.
Funeral details for Sidi will be announced at a later date.
