Man taken to hospital with hand and chest injuries after device partially explodes in Craigavon

There is currently a serious ongoing police incident in Craigavon this evening (Tuesday).

Officers are currently in attendance at a security alert in the Enniskeen area.

It is understood a device partially exploded. One male has been taken to hospital for treatment of injuries to their hands and chest.

A number of homes in the area have been evacuated.

There are no further details at this stage.

SDLP Councillor Thomas Larkham said: “I am on the ground liaising with PSNI and local residents.

“Chopper is also up and may be for some time. Will provide updates as I receive them.”

Some residents reported hearing a loud bang earlier tonight.

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart commented: “[Councillor] Margaret Tinsley and I have been engaging with the PSNI who are at the scene.

“A number of houses and families have been impacted. Anyone with any information please come forward to the police and report it. It is vital that we give the police space to investigate and take action.”
