Man accused of having heroin and cocaine with intent to supply to face Crown Court

He was released on continuing bail

A Portadown man accused of intent to supply heroin and cocaine will face Crown Court proceedings later this year.

Robert Mark McClelland, 42, of Wentworth Green, appeared charged with two counts of possession of a Class A with intent to supply, two counts of possession of Class A and possession of Class C at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court.

As the charges were read, it was heard the intent to supply offences related to heroin and cocaine, which he was alleged to have been found in possession of on July 18.

On that same date, McClelland is also accused of having diazepam on his person.

Standing in the dock, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers that were before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence solicitor John McAtamney made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Steven Keown stated that he was satisfied there was a prima facie case.

McClelland was released on continuing bail, to appear at Craigavon Crown Court on May 5 for arraignment.
