Driver’s miraculous escape after object chucked onto windscreen from Craigavon footbridge

The driver of this car miraculously walked away without serious physical injury after an object was lobbed from a footbridge in Craigavon.

The Vauxhall Astra was travelling along the Lake Road when it was inexplicably pelted with an object from above.

Police have issued an appeal for help in apprehending the culprit/s.

The incident occurred at around 7pm on Tuesday (December 8).

A PSNI spokesperson said: “An unknown person threw an object from the footbridge over Lake Road, Craigavon between roundabouts 2 and 3 smashing the front windscreen of a white Vauxhall Astra.

“The occupants were very fortunate not to be injured or involved in a serious crash.

“Anyone with any information regarding this is incident is urged to contact Lurgan PSNI quoting reference number 1618 08/12/20.”

SDLP Councillor Thomas Larkham said: “This must have been a terrifying ordeal for the occupants of this vehicle who are very fortunate they were not seriously injured or worse. My thoughts are with them at this time.”
