The countdown is on for one of Northern Ireland’s most exciting motorsport events as over 100 rally crews prepare to compete in the 2025 Modern Tyres Ulster International Rally on Friday and Saturday August 15-16.
Organised by the Northern Ireland Motor Club, this year’s event marks the final time the rally will follow its current route through Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon borough – bringing to a close, six very successful years.
The rally, which forms part of both the Irish Tarmac Championship and the European Rally Trophy, will once again showcase the very best drivers from across the UK, Ireland and beyond.
The closed-road stages surrounding Banbridge promise a thrilling spectacle for motorsport fans.
In recognition of the council’s support over the last six years, Lord Mayor Stephen Moutray was presented with a commemorative crystal award by Club Chairman, David Gray on behalf of the Northern Ireland Motor Club.
Welcoming the event, Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon borough council, Alderman Stephen Moutray commented: “We are delighted to support the Northern Ireland Motor Club and welcome the Modern Tyres Ulster Rally to Banbridge. Hosting major international events like this not only drives tourism to our borough but also boosts our local economy and supports our businesses.
“I look forward to welcoming the drivers, teams and visitors to our borough and hope they enjoy both the rally and the warm hospitality we are known for.”
The rally begins at 3.00pm on Friday, August 15 from the Service Park at Modern Tyres headquarters in the Carnbane Industrial Estate, Newry. Crews will return there throughout the next two days with the event concluding at 5.00pm on the Saturday with a prize-giving ceremony on the finish ramp at Modern Tyres, Newry.
Spectators are invited to experience the excitement up close at the Regroup at The Boulevard Outlet, Banbridge between 12 noon and 2.00pm. A live commentator will provide updates and interviews with competitors.
David Gray, Chairman of the Northern Ireland Motor Club, expressed their gratitude to ABC Council for their continued support through the International Tourism Events Fund: “Preparations are going well for what promises to be a highlight of the motorsport calendar. We’re thrilled to welcome over 100 entries, including some of the top crews from Ireland and Great Britain. While we as organisers work hard behind the scenes, it’s the competitors who bring the rally to life. We wish them all a safe and exciting event.”
The rally is free to attend. Spectators are encouraged to download the official Rally Programme from www.ulsterrally.com, available from Monday, August 11. The guide includes competitor profiles, stage maps, viewing advice, and safety information.
