There has been “partial movement” in the case against a Lurgan woman accused of attempted murder.
Twenty-six-year-old Karla Hanratty – of a of Derry Street address – appeared before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court via video link from Hydebank Wood Prison to hear the update on her case.
Hanratty is accused of having attempted to murder a man in the Lurgan area on February 21, 2026.
Ms Gilpin for the prosecution informed the court that a Domestic Incident Report (DIR) was outstanding but was due to be received on August 28.
She said the directing officer in the case was in receipt of Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) lists and needs to watch bodyworn footage and chase outstanding medical evidence in the case.
Ms Gilpin said she was aware the case is “taking some time” but asked for two weeks to ensure the DIR response was received.
Defence counsel, Mr Lyndsay raised the “issue” of a counter-allegation previously put forward.
He said: “Police are saying they don’t know if there is a counter-allegation and the PPS were to check it out. We know there is one but there seemed to be confusion at the other end.”
The prosecution explained the counter-allegation is also a subject of the anticipated DIR.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan said his notes indicated there was a DIR, medical notes, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service statements, a counter-allegation and ABEs etc…adding, “some partial movement”.
Mr Lyndsay informed the court he intended to visit with Hanratty in Hydebank Prison to inform her of the updates.
The case has been listed for review on September 11. Hanratty is not required to be produced on this date.
