Concern among residents over suitable location for £100,000 play park

Residents in Waringstown are concerned over the potential location of a new £100,000 play park in the village.

DUP MLA Carla Lockhart and councillor Mark Baxter have been pressing the ABC Council for a public meeting to discuss the progress of the new play Park.

With the pair having lobbied and help secure the £100,000 investment, the locating of the park has caused some concern and discussion among locals.

Speaking on the issue the DUP pair said: “£100, 000 has been secured for the new play park in Waringstown.

“The current park is very outdated and does not meet the needs of the ever growing village.

“A suitable site is now required and we have asked Council to facilitate a public meeting to keep residents informed and to gather comments and concerns regarding suggestions.

“This public meeting will take place within the next few weeks most likely the end of August.

“Within Waringstown we are working hard to deliver community facilities that for too long the village has lacked.

“Waringstown has grown significantly over recent years and therefore we need to make provision for current residents and future generations.

“We will inform residents of the date in due course.”
