St. Patrick’s Primary School on the Loughgall Road, Armagh, is preparing to welcome prospective Primary 1 pupils and their parents to our Open Day.
It will take place from 1.30pm on Wednesday December 3, 2025 and provides prospective parents with the opportunity to come along and visit the school, to meet with staff and to ‘get a sense’ of what it is like to be part of the St. Patrick’s family.
For many of the children who will attend the Open Day, this will not be the first time they have visited the school.
Due to St Patrick’s Primary School’s close relationships with their pre-school colleagues, over 150 children have attended one of the hugely-popular ‘Nursery Fundamentals Days’ this week, where they invited their local nursery schools and playgroups to visit for a morning filled with plenty of exercise and bagfuls of fun.
Little visitors left with huge smiles on their faces, and the staff at St Patrick’s would love to see those same smiles return for another visit on Wednesday.
Life in St. Patrick’s Primary School Armagh

Said St Patrick’s PS: “In living up to our school’s mission statement – “We Care. We Share. We Learn. Together.” – children sit at the very centre of everything we do.
“This is reflected in our Catholic ethos that promotes the enrichment of pupil life where all our pupils are immersed in a caring, supportive learning environment.
“They are provided with a wide and varied range of opportunities to grow in love, confidence, self-esteem and self-worth.
“Across our vast site, we have a lot to offer. In addition to our indoor resources, e.g. Assembly Hall, P.E. Hall, ICT Suite and Library, we are blessed with an enormous amount of outdoor space here in St. Patrick’s.
“We have four playgrounds, including a brand-new adventure playground at the front of the school, a Forest Area, a Polytunnel, and our own football pitch. Through our close relationship with Armagh Harps, we also have full access to their indoor hall and 4G pitch for P.E. lessons, specialist coaching or after-school clubs.
“Throughout the school year, we have an extensive range of extra-curricular provision, including a Breakfast Club which offers supervision and food from 8.00am, and an After-School Club which from September 2026 will offer activities and supervision until 5.30pm.
“Outside of our wraparound care, we offer many other clubs and activities, e.g. Basketball, Camogie, Irish Dancing, Gaelic Football, Hurling, Boxercise, Multi-Skills, Soccer, Just Dance, and Gymnastics.
“On the academic side, we host after-school clubs which support our curriculum in Maths, English, ICT and Art.

“We are proud to be a Rights-Respecting school, where pupils learn the importance of fairness, respect, and responsibility, helping them grow into confident, caring people.
“As an Eco-friendly, Green Flag Award-winning school, we nurture a love for the environment through sustainable practices and outdoor learning, inspiring children to protect our planet for the future.
“Our commitment to being Autism-Aware and Prem-Aware ensures that every child feels understood, supported, and included, with tailored approaches that celebrate individuality and promote wellbeing.
“Together, these values create a warm, inclusive learning community where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. By embedding these principles early, we empower our pupils to become compassionate, resilient, and responsible young people, ready to make a positive difference in the world.
“As we enter the season of Advent, we look forward to opening our doors for the visit of existing parents for all of our festive fun. We would love to welcome the parents who, along with their child, have reached a further new milestone – planning for the beginning of their primary school journey.
“We are proud of our school; we hope you feel it’s where your child belongs.
“Please join us on Wednesday December 3, from 1.30pm, to discover what St. Patrick’s has to offer you and your child.”
