Pet shop ask Co Armagh’s businesses to support ‘fully funded’ waste bag initiative

Four 'poo bag dispensers' will be stocked year on year to provide free bags to those who have been 'caught short'

An independently-owned pet shop is calling for the support of local businesses in a clean-up effort that seeks to curb indiscriminate dog fouling across County Armagh.

Rachelle, owner of Pet Domain on the outskirts of Richhill, has sourced four ‘poo bag dispensers’ that she will then stock with bags year on year to provide free bags to those who have been “caught short”.

The dispensers and bags will be fully funded by the young entrepreneur who understands that dog fouling can often be a result of people simply running out of waste bags rather than a deliberate shirking of their responsibilities as pet owners.

In order to put her initiative into practice Rachelle is now asking for local businesses to offer space for the dispensers.

Ideally, she wishes to have one located at a high footfall and accessible site in Richhill, two in similar Armagh City locations with the last to be placed possibly within the vicinity of the Palace Demesne.

Once placed she will then order approximately 16,000 bags to keep the dispensers stocked throughout the year.

There will be no cost to the businesses involved.

Those wishing to support Rachelle’s clean up efforts can contact her via telephone on 07940068390.
