Newtownhamilton widower launches fundraiser to help support ten children after sudden death of mother

In less than 24 hours the crowdfunding platform has already raised over £1400 and is continuing to climb

A fundraising effort has been launched to support a Newtownhamilton widower and his ten children following the devastating death of their mother.

The campaign has been launched by Rolandas Abromaitis, partner of Lynsey Bell, who sadly passed away just weeks ago on St Patrick’s Day (March 17).

In their 21 years together the couple raised ten beautiful children; Dylan, Dainius, Darius, Anna, Tomas, Laura, Ciara, Alice, Lucas and Grace.

Their children range in age from 25 to just one and a half years old, with Roland explaining to Armagh I that each of his children are still “going through their own difficult time”.

Lynsey – who previously lived in Portadown – passed away unexpectedly in Craigavon Area Hospital and as a result Roland describes his family as “still in shock” adding that they “cannot believe this has happened”.

Several years ago, she had battled cancer but had entered hospital on the Monday before her death having taken unexpectedly and seriously unwell.

Roland explained that, during her one week stay doctors informed him that Lynsey’s organs were “failing” and regrettably said, “there was nothing they could do”. They are still unsure at this stage if Lynsey’s illness had any connection to her previous battle with cancer.

The local community was also left shaken by the young mother’s passing. Many shared their condolences upon hearing the news, describing her as a “beautiful wife, mother, daughter and sister” and sending prayers and love to the entire family as they came to terms with their immeasurable loss.

As he continues to try and support his family during an “incredibly difficult time”, Roland has launched a GoFundMe page with a target of £6,000 to help primarily cover the cost of Lynsey’s funeral and to alleviate any ongoing financial concerns.

And, in less than 24 hours the crowdfunding platform has already raised over £1400 and is continuing to climb.

With the “wee ones” still incredibly upset following the loss of their mother, Roland remains unsure about whether he can afford to stay at home to oversee their care or will have to return to work full-time.

Any money raised he says “will make a big difference” to their lives while they continue to “just do the best we can”.
