An Armagh teenager, who won the hearts of a community near and far, as she bravely battled a rare form of cancer has sadly died.
Katie Rose McKeown, who was 14, passed away peacefully at her Moy Road home, on Thursday, in the loving care of her family.
The beloved daughter of Kevin and Una, she was the younger sister of Grace and Olivia.
The St Catherine’s College pupil was diagnosed with Stage 4 High-Risk Neuroblastoma in March 2018 and showed tremendous courage throughout her illness.
Tens of thousands of pounds were raised as Katie Rose’s family sought alternative treatments abroad. The community really took Katie Rose and her family to their hearts.
The then Lord Mayor, Mealla Campbell, chose Katie Rose’s Journey as one of her good causes to support during her year in office.
The family regularly updated social media on Katie Rose’s progress, sharing the ups and downs along the way.
Sadly, Katie Rose’s heroic journey has come to an end.
