A funeral service will be held on Wednesday (December 10) for City of Armagh senior rugby player, Adam Hegarty.
Adam passed away suddenly on Saturday night after playing for the club’s Second XV earlier that day.
The popular young man, from Saval in Newry, had scored a try for Armagh second XV on Saturday in what has now, heartbreakingly, become his final appearance for the club.
City of Armagh RFC paid a moving tribute to the popular player, describing him as a “true gentleman” who was respected both on and off the field.
Newry Rugby Club also paid tribute to its former player.
“Adam played in our youth teams for many years and was a very talented rugby player,” said a club spokesperson.
“The club would like to pass on our deepest condolences to Adam’s family, Noel, Caroline, Jack, and Ellen. We also keep in our thoughts and prayers Adam’s friends and teammates in Newry and Armagh. RIP my friend.”
