A trial of an Armagh man accused of gross indecency of a young boy 30 years ago will begin next year.

Paul Murphy, of Dobbins Grove, appeared before Newry Crown Court this morning (Monday).

The 55-year-old is charged with three counts of indecent assault on a male and three counts of gross indecency, with or towards a child under the age of 16.

The offences were alleged to have occurred between October 15, of 1978, and November 15, of the same year.

During a previous court sitting defence barrister Conor Coulter that the defendant suffered from “learning disabilities and communication difficulties” and thus may require a registered intermediary.

Murphy learned that his case had been listed for trial on February 4, of next year.
