Two local nurses have been reliving their “amazing” experience after meeting King Charles at a fabulous reception at Buckingham Palace.
The event was held to recognise the contribution they have made towards providing healthcare in the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.
Annabelle Dalangin, from Lurgan, and Bincy Jose, from Moy, were among 400 internationally-educated nurses who attended the event at Buckingham Palace which paid tribute to the UK’s international nursing and midwifery workforce.
The reception recognised the multitude of backgrounds and cultures which contribute to the health services across the four nations.
Annabelle, a staff nurse in Recovery at Craigavon Area Hospital, and Bincy, a deputy Sister in Bluestone, said that it was an honour to be invited to meet the King.
“It was an amazing experience meeting King Charles,” said Annabelle. “We greeted him a happy 75th birthday and were able to shake hands with him. We were able to meet and chat with other nurses, midwives doctors from different sectors about the help the international nurses have contributed to this country.”

Annabelle and Bincy also met other Royals who attended the event, including The Duke of Gloucester and The Duchess of Gloucester.
Added Bincy: “We were able to chat with them too, telling our experiences especially during the time of COVID and working in NHS and we also discussed matters about the contribution of other nationals from different cultures.
“Overall the event was a great experience for us and we were able to meet both new and old friends back home.”
Heather Trouton, Deputy Chief Executive , Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health Professionals and Support Services, said the Trust were very proud to have Annabelle and Bincy represent the Trust at this prestigious event.
“Both Annabelle and Bincy and indeed their internationally-educated nursing colleagues provide an immensely valuable contribution to our patients and to the delivery of health and social care services in the Southern Trust.”
