Paddy – The Life and Times of Paddy Armstrong

Don Wycherley stars as Paddy Armstrong in this one man show based on the memoir, Life After Life, a Guildford Four Memoir (2017).

Fifty years after his wrongful conviction, at the age of 74, Paddy is facing into his twilight years and wrestling with a thousand turbulent memories. In this show, he relives the journey that forever altered his destiny.

Don Wycherley brings unflinching honesty, pathos and humour to his portrayal of Paddy, a man failed and scarred by a flawed system yet refusing to be defined by it.

Paddy is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of forgiveness, reminding us that the privilege of freedom and love, family and everyday life can restore us and mend the scars of even the most savage injustice.

Jesus Christ Superstar

‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ tells the story of biblical Jesus in the final days leading up to his crucifixion. A rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, the musical has no spoken dialogue and is sometimes considered a modern rock-opera.

Loosely based on the Gospels, ‘Superstar’ focuses on the personal conflicts between Jesus, his disciples, the people of Israel, and the leadership of Rome. Special attention is played to the relationship between Judas Iscariot and Jesus, as well as Jesus’ relationship with Mary Magdalene.

The musical is unique among biblical retellings in that it focuses on both Judas’ struggle making the decision to betray Jesus, and Jesus’ human psychology, fear, and anger in understanding and accepting his role as both leader and martyr.

The show is a product of its era, permeated with 1970’s rock, gospel, folk and funk themes, modern language and colloquialisms, and high-energy dance numbers.

The Tame Fox

They cultivated me – so they thought I was their garden in the wilderness

Until I turned fox and all the island was henhouse and their only hope was to hunt me down again

Taking in the whole life of the last chieftain of the O’Neills, this Irish traditional suite blends music (composed by Áine Mallon) and story (written by Emily DeDakis) to reimagine the history and myths surrounding the Flight of the Earls.

These spoken meditations – woven with laments and reels, jigs and bugle calls, prayers and ballads – invite listeners into the tumultuous world of Hugh O’Neill, along with the allies, spies, mercenaries and rulers of church and state who helped and hunted him. THE TAME FOX is a musical meditation on wildness, wilderness, and the inheritance of rebellion.
