Armagh’s Market Place Theatre summer season jam-packed with music and comedy

The brand new Summer ’24 season of events has just been launched at Armagh’s Market Place Theatre, absolutely jam-packed with spectacular entertainment featuring top local and international performers; so whether you’re someone who loves live music, comedy, crafts, or film, you will be sure to find something to enjoy at The Market Place!

Comedy fans will be delighted to hear that local funnyman, Dave Elliott will be returning with his brand-new stand-up show ‘Roleplay’ on Friday, June 22. Paddy Raff will also be taking the stage with his show ‘Gimme a Minute’ on Saturday, August 31.

The Market Place will also be hosting a special screening of newly rediscovered and renewed film, ‘Big Banana Feet’, the captivating documentary which follows Billy Connolly on his 1975 tour of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

If live music is more up your street, there is plenty to choose from this season with performances from Jake Blount, Susan McCann, Dom Martin and Northern Ireland Opera.

There is also an exciting line up of tribute acts so you can sing along to all your favourites, including fantastic tributes to The Dubliners, Cher, and Elvis, as well as a whole host of country music favourites, from Dolly Parton to Charley Pride, who will be taking the stage on Friday, June 7 for the spectacular ‘Legends of American Country Show’.

For those who prefer a bit of drama in their lives, the Summer season will not disappoint. Hotbuckle Productions are back with another adaptation of a classic novel in their unique style, this time they are performing a rendition of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ on Thursday, June 6.

Then, Concord Theatre Company will take the stage on Saturday, August 3 with ‘Death by Design’, delightful and mysterious who-dun-it based on the works of Agatha Christie and Noel Coward.

The Market Place will once again be host to the annual John Hewitt International Summer School, which boasts a full programme of theatrical performances, talks, music and poetry events. Always a Summer hit, this year will be no different!
