Tyrone woman charged with attempting to murder her mother and father

There was no application for bail at this stage

Dungannon Court

A County Tyrone woman has appeared before a special court sitting accused of attempting to murder her parents during a number of alleged incidents last year.

Grainne Taggart, whose age is unknown, from Ashgrove Park, Omagh, is charged with committing the offence against her mother on dates between 1 and 30 September 2022, and against her father on dates between 1 and 30 November 2022.

She is further charged with assaulting her mother on 13 April this year.

Finally on dates between 1 September 2022 and 13 April this year, she allegedly engaged in a course of behaviour causing her mother to suffer physical or psychological harm, which was aggravated by domestic abuse.

Taggart spoke only to confirm her identity and that she understood the charges against her.

A detective constable told Dungannon Magistrates’ Court all charges could be connected.

No details surrounding the circumstances of the alleged offending were disclosed during the short hearing.

There was no application for bail at this stage as Taggart currently has no available address for release, however a defence lawyer advised efforts are underway to obtain an alternative.

District Judge Steven Keown remanded Taggart in custody to appear before Omagh Magistrates Court by video-link later this month.
