Kids in County Tyrone could be quite literally walking on air with plans for a new ‘Inflatable World’ leisure venue on their doorstep.
Proposals have been drawn up for the new indoor leisure facility which would open seven days a week.
And the site of the latest children’s attraction is the Kilcronagh Business Park, on the Sandholes Road, Cookstown.
The applicants – Inflatable World – are intended to transform four units within the business park.
These had only been approved in recent years to operate as office space.
But now Mid-Ulster District Council is being asked to approve a change of use to accommodate a new and exciting development which would provide fun opportunities for youngsters.
The venue would boast floorspace of close to 13,000 sq ft, the majority of which would accommodate a new ‘inflatable zone’.
Other elements of the plans include three separate party rooms, of varying size, as well as cafe, seating area, toilet provision and arcade area.
According to information accompanying the application, the facility would open Monday to Friday, from noon until 8pm, and 10am until 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
And it adds: “The designated party room areas are intended as semi-private spaces for groups to consume food during events. These areas are not fully enclosed, with partition walls limited to approximately 1.1m in height, ensuring visual permeability and no formation of fully independent rooms.
“Current attendance data indicates an anticipated daily footfall of approximately 200 persons per day.
“The inflatable facility is designed to accommodate a maximum of 80 persons per hourly session. Visitor numbers will be controlled through managed session scheduling to ensure the site operates safely and within its intended capacity limits.
“The proposal provides three fully enclosed toilet facilities, including one accessible WC. All toilet accommodation is designed for unisex use
“The proposed development has been designed to provide inclusive access for all users. Step-free access is available throughout the building, and an accessible WC Is provided in accordance with the requirements of Building Regulations (Northern Ireland).
“The identified food preparation area is primarily utilized for the storage of food associated with parties and events. Preparation and cooking activities are undertaken within the designated kitchen area.
“The proposed layout has been designed to provide safe means of escape in the event of fire, with appropriate escape routes, exit provision and circulation space arranged in accordance with relevant fire safety guidance and Building Regulations (Northern Ireland).
“The proposed development is not expected to result in unacceptable noise or amenity impacts. All activities are contained within the building, and the internal layout ensures that noise-generating uses are located away from external boundaries, minimising potential disturbance to surrounding occupiers.
“Parking provision is available on a communal basis, with shared use of existing car parking facilities serving neighbouring properties within the immediate vicinity. No changes to existing parking arrangements are proposed.
“There is 102 car parking spaces as well as 6 lorry/bus parking spaces.”
The proposals indicate an estimated 20 staff on site daily.
The application will now be advertised shortly.
