The band members lost their passports, luggage, cameras and cash and turned to fans for urgent advice on how to get 'emergency passports sorted so we can get home'

A popular County Tyrone Celtic rock band have been left high and dry after being robbed in the United States.

The Whistlin’ Donkeys are currently on tour ahead of St Patrick’s Day.

But having just played a gig in Chicago, their high of performing in North America ended on an all-time low.

For the six-piece band took to social media to appeal for urgent help after falling victim to a distressing robbery.

The incident happened on Sunday and the band members shared a video showing their vehicle, windows smashed and ransacked, as they sought advice from fans.

The band members lost their passports, luggage, cameras and cash which had been in the vehicle.

“We need advice/direction urgently on someone we can get in contact with to get emergency passports sorted so we can get home,” they wrote, asking that anyone who could point them in the right direction or knows who to contact to get in touch.

The Whistlin’ Donkeys have a huge following around the world and are regularly on tour, with Armagh a frequent port of call and favourite with the band. Indeed, they are due back by popular demand at the Market Place Theatre in May.

The band features Fergal McAloon on vocals, Stephen Corrigan on guitar, Tomás Quinn on banjo, Michael Kerr on fiddle, Danny McCormack on bass, and Oscar Bradley on drums.

They had been touring in the United States ahead of three nights at the famous Connolly’s Irish bar at Times Square in New York this weekend.

Fans have been offering advice online and are now eagerly awaiting updates after this major setback.
