Britain's Got Talent

A man facing multiple public order charges has had his bail amended to allow him to travel to Wales to attend an audition for Britain’s Got Talent.

Thirty-four-year-old Robert William Craig Davis is currently charged with stealing a set of keys from a make and taking his car without consent causing damage in the process, then driving it while unfit through drink or drugs, without a licence or insurance and while disqualified.

It is further alleged he damaged a telegraph pole and while in custody following arrest, damaged a cell.

There is also another set of offences he allegedly assaulted members of an ambulance crew and made persistent improper use of a communications network to cause anxiety or needless distress.

The accused – with an address of Killen Park, Castlederg – appeared before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court today (Friday) where a defence barrister requested his bail conditions be amended to allow him to attend the audition.

District Judge Francis Rafferty enquired: “Do you have any instructions around his particular talent?”

The defence replied: “Believe it or not I do. He is a singer by repute. We will see in the fullness of time whether he is a talented singer or not.”

Judge Rafferty said: “Dare we stand in the way of potential to greatness.”

He agreed to suspend a number of bail conditions for four days including residence, curfew and use of an electronic tag.
